Oprah. My ICON
I have to admit, whenever I think of Oprah, one vision comes to mind. And that’s me sitting in a chair across from her after a loving embrace, and she says to me” I’m glad you’re here.” She’s just someone who truly inspires me to not only be better, but to THINK better.
Who is Oprah?
Well, let me paint a portrait of an extraordinary woman who has not only graced our screens but has become a beacon of inspiration for many, myself included. Oprah Winfrey, a name synonymous with resilience and triumph, has sculpted her legacy through an incredible career spanning television, film, and philanthropy. From the groundbreaking 'The Oprah Winfrey Show,' where her inviting words and insightful interviews touched hearts globally, to her notable achievements as a media mogul with OWN (Oprah Winfrey Network), Oprah's impact is immeasurable. Beyond the screen, her philanthropic work like the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls in South Africa, showcase a commitment to empowering the next generation. Oprah is more than a media mogul; she's a force of positivity, a storyteller, and a catalyst for change.
How Did Oprah Winfrey Become Famous?
This is one of the top googled question about Oprah. I also get asked this question a lot too as an American living abroad. People want to know what she actually did to be famous. They have no idea and they don’t understand. WHY. I’m always flabbergasted by this. But then I realize she really is a household name and you may not know what she does, but you know her.
The answer to this that I always tell people is that: It’s her thoughts about life and herself that brought her to who she is now. See now If you can understand that, then you can truly understand manifesting. Like Oprah became Oprah because Oprah thought of herself as Oprah. That means she envisioned herself being this person she created this life. For me, she IS the most successful black entertainer out there. I’m not speaking just about money. I’m talking about ALL of it. Wealth, knowledge, access, platforms. The rooms she’s in are just one’s that I’m sure she’s the only black woman there.
Oprah is my ICON
So when I think of myself, I think of Oprah. The thoughts that I have for myself and my life are maybe not as grand, but they are grand. I feel as if they alienate me from the rest of the world because they are so grand, and unique. But I know if I told her, she would understand. I know she has them too. (And Queen Beyonce of course!)
I’m still learning about myself and how to make my mark in the world. I know I’m meant to inspire people to do great things. I’m still figuring it out, but until then, this blog is here to help me and I hope to help you too. I like writing and sometimes I need to word vomit. (Literally speak, type or write everything that comes to my mind) It’s extremely therapeutic and I like writing as if I am speaking to you.
So to end this, just dream a little bigger that what you dreamed of yesterday. Find that person in your life that inspires you to put in the work to change your thoughts so that they empower you to be bigger and better. Find your calling in your life and run for it. Stay true to the journey and embrace it, no matter what it calls you to do. And always remember that your time on this earth is limited. We are not always blessed with the luxury of time. You and everyone around you has an expiration date. What will you choose to do today? Think about it.
Ending this blog with some of my favorite Oprah quotes and things.
Sending you all love and inspiration
